Workplace gossip

Workplace politics usually happens mainly because of workplace gossip. Where ever you work there will always be workplace gossip , there will always be that one or two people that are jealous or have nothing better to do. For example when people get promotions others feel jealous and feel the need to start rumors like " she olly got the position because she is seeing the boss" or "its because she bring hims coffee every day" . Where I would there is a lot of workplace gossip everybody is either in your business or talking about what you do. Workplace gossip can lead to people getting fired , or suspended I've witnessed a couple of cases like that happening at my work. Is it really worth is to lose your job over gossip? Workplace gossip is very unproductive and can become a roadblock to effective communication and collaboration and at the end of the day its not worth involving yourself with the gossip. It could also cause lack of trust in a relationships  between your co workers. Being responsible is the best way to go, stay away from the people who are into the workplace gossip and keep to your self or find people that are quiet and  that you can trust.

Here are some funny quotes I found about workplace gossip :

It is easier to dam a river than to stop the flow of gossip.~ Philipino Proverb
Get the facts first. You can distort them later. ~ Mark Twain
Buy the rumor, sell the facts. ~ Anonymous
A rumor without a leg to stand on will get around some other way. ~ John Tudor
The biggest liar in the world is They Say. ~Douglas Malloch

Work Place Environment

Everywhere out there in the work field there is always and will always be Politics in the Workplace. In my opinion I think most of these work politics has to do with competition and jealousy. Workplace politics can lead to gossip, manipulation, mind games, fake relationships and more. I work in a pet food factory and their way of operation and positions is all about sonority, it doesn't matter who is better and who is faster or who the deserves the job the most its who has been there the longest gets better job positions. From experience of working there I don't believe that this is how they should operate , I believe they should judge people on their skills rather from how long they have been there. A lot of my works politics comes from a sonority and skill basis.

What do you think , job positions should be given to the person with more skill and ability or the person who has been there the longest ?

Give me some feedback it would really help :)
